About Course

Objectives

The Managing Safely course is for those required to manage safely and effectively in compliance with both their organizations policy and best practice in health and safety.

Designed to provide all managers and supervisors with the confidence and enthusiasm to apply knowledge to the workplace, this course is unlike any other.

The Managing Safely course will help you improve the safety awareness culture in your organisation, see your productivity increase and enhance your reputation within your supply chain by embedding safety and health across the whole organisation.

 

Training Methodology

Throughout this program, the attendees will have the opportunity to practice their skills through a variety of hands-on exercises. These exercises focus on the skills introduced in each lesson. The following are our tools for course conduction:

  • Pre-Assessment Questionnaire for use before the program and during it.
  • Post-Assessment Questionnaire for use after the program.
  • Lectures, Demonstrations, Group Exercises & Case Studies
  • Visual aid (Video Simulation) to increase the efficiency of the information
  • Evaluation Questionnaires (Course, Instructors, & Administration) filled by Attendees
  • Evaluation Questionnaires for Attendees filled by Instructors

On successful completion of the course, delegates should be able to:

  • Explain working safely.
  • Explain the component parts of a recognized safety management system such as HSG65.
  • Identify the data and techniques required to produce an adequate record of an incident and demonstrate the procedure of an accident investigation, recognizing human factors involved.
  • Describe the statutory requirements for reporting and procedures for checking non-reporting.
  • Describe methods of basic trend epidemiological analysis for reactive monitoring data.
  • Define ‘hazard’ and ‘risk’, and describe the legal requirements for risk assessment.
  • Demonstrate a practical understanding of a quantitative risk assessment technique and the data required for records.
  • Describe workplace precaution hierarchies.
  • Prepare and use active monitoring checklists and implement schedules for active monitoring, recording results and analyzing records.
  • Implement risk assessment methods to identify and rank health and safety risks within theiق business
  • Develop controls to reduce or mitigate these risks to minimize business exposure
  • Understand both personal and corporate responsibilities relating to health and safety
  • Have an understanding of how to investigate incidents to reduce the likelihood of reoccurrence
  • Develop methods of measuring performance against health and safety target.

Final Exam

Final Exam- Final Exam must be passed with 80% to pass the course.

IOSH Managing Safely is an internationally recognised certificate which teaches managers how to effectively manage health and safety issues in their team in the workplace. The course is consists of 8 modules and is assessed with a short test and risk assessment project.
